MelPebbles Tries a Banana Dog. The Community Has Opinions.

It started innocently enough — MelPebbles posted what looked like a hot dog bun with something in it. 'Is... there a dog in there?' asked shinypiplup. The answer was a banana. A banana, nestled in a toasted bun with what appeared to be peanut butter, photographed in the ambient glow of a Minnesota Twins game on the TV behind it.

The community's response was immediate and principled. shinypiplup declared a banana 'a step too far for this hallowed competition' while allowing that a corndog might — might — squeak through on a case-by-case basis. Daniel weighed in with measured judicial wisdom: 'every dog is evaluated individually,' before noting that even a foot-long corndog had previously been denied. Tilor, who was apparently the one who submitted that corndog and got burned, simply said: 'And that turned me into the rules monster I am.' The banana was, needless to say, not approved.
